Clawhammer style banjo playing has been around for well over one-hundred years and is well known for its highly rhythmic style. It gets its name from the claw-like shape that's made by the picking hand.
Unlike Scruggs style playing, no picks are used on the fingers. See some of the videos in the video section for a demonstration of how the clawhammer style is played.
